Pornography Is Not Harmless Fun
I believe pornography does more harm than good. Many people, women included, would disagree with this, but when it comes to intimate relationship, how is a man looking at and lusting after a sexy woman in a magazine not a form of
emotional infidelity
?
Even the Bible says “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife.”
You may think it’s no big deal, it’s just a magazine, or it’s just a strip club, or it’s just a website, but it IS a big deal. If your wife or girlfriend knows you are salivating at the sight of another woman, no matter that it’s just a photo in a magazine or a video on the computer or TV, she feels like you’re cheating on her.
Normal, everyday women can never compete with the airbrushed, gorgeous babes in those magazines and movies. Consequently, women feel insecure and inadequate in comparison. If you need a magazine or video to get turned on, it’s hurtful to the woman you love.
Let me beat a feminist drum here for just a minute:
Pornography is degrading and dehumanizing to women. So not only does a man stray in his mind when he “reads” Penthouse or Lollipops magazine, he contributes to an industry that profits from the objectification of women. “Adult entertainment” is a slick euphemism for an entire industry that eroticizes unacceptable attitudes like domination, coercion, and humiliation. Yes, there’s porn for women too, but let’s face it. The majority of it is aimed at men.
What would happen if the tables were turned? How would you feel if you knew your wife or girlfriend was lusting after another man? How would you feel if you knew she was turned on by the sight of another man’s hot body? You wouldn’t like it very much, that’s for sure. In fact you’d probably be jealous as hell. And maybe you’d start to wonder if you’re not satisfying her.
There can be no intimacy without respect and patronizing strip clubs or getting off from a sexy website is not respectful of your partner. There’s just no place for pornography in your relationship if you want closeness and intimacy.
