Mental Instability

I feel bad for you but I'm going through a similar situation and it's not easy. Ive been with my girlfriend a year and love her more than anything. We talked about marriage and a future and everything. For 10 months our relationship was perfect and our lives were perfect. She is bipolar but everything was manageable and great. At 10 months stress in her life caused her to lose it. She attempted suicide twice and thinks she is a terrible person unworthy of my love and being in a relationship. She is always depressed and can climb out of it for several hours or even a couple days. She was diagnosed as schizophrenic and is just a mental wreck. Ive always been there for her and gave her 100 percent support. It's a terrible situation to love someone like that. Like you i see the potential and love of another person and what we could have, but on the other hand things will only be good so long until something happens again. I feel that like you I should leave her. You can't make people like that happy, you just can't. Loving such an unstable needy person will cause stress and hell upon your life. You will fell like a therapist more than a lover for long stretches of time. It's tough because you love them and just don't want to give up hope that things could be great. I wish you luck man you have my sympathy. I'm living it... I know how it feels.
