Romance can be big and bold, like the man who sky-writes a marriage proposal, but really it’s mostly about the small stuff. Small things go a long way with us like dancing in the kitchen when a great slow song comes on, or touching us frequently throughout the day. When you do small thoughtful things you are saying, “You’re special to me. I care about how you feel and I want you to be happy.”

You don’t have to spend lots of money to be a romantic man. Never underestimate the power of a foot rub or a mushy email. Which isn’t to say a surprise getaway to a bed and breakfast wouldn’t be fabulous. That would be great too! But it’s the regular, small acts of kindness that will help keep the juices flowing and fires burning. Ideally those acts of kindness should be a regular part of our lives as couples, and not just for special occasions like birthdays or Valentine’s Day.

Getting married or moving in together shouldn’t be the signal that now you can relax and stop with all the thoughtful gestures because she’s here to stay. Think again! This is when it becomes really important because we all know how passion fades over time.

Yes, it takes action and effort to be romantic. If all this sounds like a lot of work, believe me, it’s much more work to deal with an unhappy, unsatisfied woman than one who feels loved and appreciated. And women are much more likely to want to have SEX with you if they feel like they’ve been paid attention to and nurtured on a regular basis. Think about that!
